About Birota foods
The word, "birota" means bicycle in Latin. Our founders, Bob and Bri, have a special connection to bicycles and combined this with their passion for nutrition, health, and athletic performance.
Who are we? Well, we are not amateurs, that's for sure! And we aren't the "suits" that simply care more about the bottom line than we do our products and customers. We share the same passion for food as you do and along with that comes some serious "street cred"!
Bob Seebohar, MS, RD, CSSD, CSCS, METS II
Bob grew up in an Italian family and has spent many, many hours in the kitchen learning, cooking, and well, eating! He developed his culinary "mad scientist" skills from his grandmother and mother, mostly by not following recipes. He has let his taste buds guide his culinary education by always adopting the "little bit of this, little bit of that" Italian way of cooking. One of his favorite hobbies is creating new ways to use ingredients to give a tantalizing taste profile along with having a positive impact on health and athletic performance.
Professionally, Bob has two masters degrees in Health and Exercise Science and Food Science and Human Nutrition. He is a Registered/Sport Dietitian, Exercise Physiologist, and Elite Endurance coach of triathletes and runners. He was the Director of Sports Nutrition at the University of Florida and was one of the very first Sport Dietitians at the US Olympic Committee where he was chosen as the US Team Sport Dietitian for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China. At the Games, he was also the head Sport Dietitian/Exercise Physiologist for the US Olympic Triathlon Team during their 10 day pre-Olympic training camp leading up to their competition!
Yeah, he can talk the talk but can he walk the walk? Um, heck yeah! Growing up a competitive soccer player, Bob turned to endurance events during his university undergraduate studies and has never looked back. He has completed hundreds of multisport events including Ironman races, the Boston Marathon, Ragnar, the Leadville 100 trail run (twice) and 100 mile mountain bike race (twice), the Leadman series of grueling endurance events, and even the Spartan World Championships where he placed 4th in his age division in the Competitive category. He likes exploring the limits of human performance from a training and nutrition perspective!
Briana Greenlee, BS, RD, CSSD, METS I
Bri is extremely decorated as well. Having pretty much grown up in a commercial kitchen since she was 14 years old, Bri started her first company at the age of 15 selling baked goods at her parents’ office. Here's where it gets really good. Bri attended The Culinary Institute of America (the Harvard of culinary schools) at the age of 19 and received the “cream of the crop” scholarship that is only granted to a select few that they feel will drive industry and make a positive impact on the field. Bri has worked in 5-star restaurants and as a private chef while getting her undergraduate (majoring in Food Science, Dietetics, and Pre-Med). Stud! After graduating college and finishing her Registered Dietitian internship, she formed her sports nutrition consulting company and currently works with many different types of athletes and fitness enthusiasts.
As you can see, Bri has quite the background in the culinary arts but is she athletic? Heck ya! She has participated in quite a few sports including ballet, Dressage, volleyball, basketball, soccer, swimming, weight lifting, and martial arts. During college, she picked up cycling while working at a local bike shop and started competing in triathlons after breaking her back in a snowboarding accident. Currently, she is an adrenaline junkie for anything ultra-endurance. The longer and more insane and challenging, the better and she supplements this training with Crossfit and Olympic lifting to balance her body.
We want to share our passion of combining food ingredients to enhance health and improve fitness and athletic performance with you. We eat, breathe, sleep, and live sports nutrition and we want you to be the best you can be. Bottom line is that you need to train your nutrition like you do your body and our products will help you push the boundaries of health and human performance.
Our ingredients are superior to anything else you will find. We searched long and hard for ingredients that don't have things we wouldn't feed ourselves or our families. You will only find functional ingredients in our products - ones that will help you take charge and own your health and athletic performance!
